The Vietnamese Embassy in Ankara, Turkey on August 25 held a ceremony to mark the 77th National Day of Vietnam (September 2), which gathered about 200 local government and parliament officials, representatives from diplomatic corps, social organisations, and businesses, and Vietnamese expatriates.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Do Son Hai reiterated the historical significance of the August Revolution and the National Day, noting that the heroic milestones of the nation, achievements in economic development socioeconomic status of the country. Regarding bilateral relations between Vietnam and Turkey, the ambassador emphasized the good results between the two countries during the past time. In 2021, Vietnam is Turkey's second largest trading partner in the group of ASEAN countries, after Malaysia. Many areas of cooperation are showing positive signs, especially in defense cooperation.

In the context that the two countries are approaching the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1978-2023), Ambassador Hai believes in the potential of Vietnam and Turkey, along with the efforts of the two countries. Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General of Asia and Pacific Department Esra Cankorur, congratulated Ambassador Do Son Hai and colleagues, friends and people of Vietnam on this important holiday.

Appreciating the bilateral relationship between Turkey and Vietnam, Ersa said the two sides still have a lot of potential to promote and expand cooperation areas in the future, adding that the Turkish Foreign Ministry will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy to ensure the effective and active implementation of the work.

On the occasion of National Day, the Embassy has arranged a Vietnam corner to display a number of products of domestic enterprises including coconut, green and black teas. Along with that, a photo exhibition and video presentation program were held to introduce the innovation process, economic development, tourism potential, and the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.

International friends were also very excited to enjoy special dishes with bold Vietnamese flavors such as pho, spring rolls, banh mi at the event.

In similar events, the Vietnamese Embassies in Germany, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Canada also hosted a get-together for representatives of the Vietnamese community in the host countries on the occasion of the 77th National Day and the 77th traditional day of the diplomatic sector (August 28).
