"As recent information noted with regard to developments in Cuba, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association would like to send to the Cuban people our loyal solidarity and strong support. We strongly oppose all plots and actions that incite, instigate, spread fake news and misrepresentations aimed at causing political disturbances and instability in Cuba.

All people of conscience in the world clearly understand that the U.S. Government's unreasonable and inhumane embargo policy for nearly 60 years has caused Cuban's lives difficulties, seriously violating the human rights of the Cuban people. The tightening sanctions measures taken from April 2019 to December 2020 alone has damaged the Cuban economy more by more than US$9 billion.

Overcoming difficulties caused by that harsh embargo policy, Cuba has achieved very important achievements, especially in science, technology, education, and health. Facing the severe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cuban Government has made efforts and proactively implemented all solutions to ensure people's lives, while continuing to conduct humanitarian medical activities and coordinating with the international community to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic. For peace-loving people around the world, Cuba is a symbol of international solidarity, of the unyielding that fight for freedom, peace, national independence, national sovereignty and human dignity. Therefore, consecutively from 1992 up to now, the United Nations General Assembly has issued 29 resolutions with an almost absolute majority, in favor of Cuba, calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba.

The Vietnamese people call on the U.S. Government to stop its hostile policy and immediately lift the unilateral economic and financial embargo against Cuba, soon normalize relations with Cuba, and respect the rights of the Cuban people to choose development path and social mode. It is the most necessary thing to do today, a practical way for the Cuban people to enjoy their legitimate rights, meet the aspirations and interests of all peoples in Cuba, in the United States and in the world, contributing to the region and the world's peace, stability and development.

The Vietnamese people never forgot the steadfast solidarity and generous support and assistance given by Cuban people to Vietnam during our the most difficult times. Cuba is always in the heart of every Vietnamese. The Vietnamese people will always stand shoulder to shoulder with, unite and support the Cuban people in any situations.

We believe that, based on the Cuban Party and Government's measures and efforts, nourished by the revolutionary tradition, determinative will, wisdom and courage of the Cuban people, Cuba will soon overcome difficulties and successfully carry out the process of updating the socio-economic model and steadily going forward on the chosen path.

Long live Cuba!

Vietnam-Cuba unity will undoubtedly win!
