VUFO President Receive PeaceTrees VietnaDelegation
The statement was made by Jerilyn Brusseau, Co-founder and president of PeaceTrees Vietnam at the meeting with Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) on September 12 in Hanoi.
According to Brusseau, even during the war, she and her family wanted to connect American families with Vietnamese people, thereby building friendship between the two peoples. This idea began reality in 1995 when the two countries' reconciliation.
During this current visit, she brought five friends to Vietnam to visit and learn about Vietnamese culture and history.

At the meeting, President of VUFO Nguyen Phuong Nga appreciated the contributions and support of PeaceTrees Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of war and clearing landmines, thereby supporting the reconstruction of Vietnam, cleaning up many areas in the Quang Tri, and strengthening the friendship between the Vietnamese and American people.
According to Bui The Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam - US Society, in May 2023, Quang Tri, which was once a fierce battlefield and also home to PeaceTrees Vietnam's office, became the 10th province in the country to establish Vietnam - US Friendship Association. American and Vietnamese veterans who confronted during the war have become pioneers who paved the way for friendship, contributing to turning the two countries from former enemies into comprehensive strategic partners.
The two sides agreed to continue to cooperate in upcoming activities, contributing to strengthening people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and the US.
