At the meeting, they agreed on promoting cooperation, coordinating in holding activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations establishment (1976 – 2021).

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thuy, Chief of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Southern Representative Office expressed her hope that in the coming time, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City would continue to cooperate with VUFO's Southern Representative Office and the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association in the southern provinces to tighten the two countries' friendship through meaningful and diverse people-to-people exchange activities, bringing projects sponsored by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City to localities in need.

"Included in the series of events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment between Vietnam and Thailand, Vietnam Times - VUFO's forum will publish a Vietnamese - Thai bilingual journal to review past memories, attempt for the present aspirations and express future hopes in the bilateral relationship. The special journal is expected to highlight cooperation achievements in economic development and investment between the two countries, shown through the success in projects, enterprises, products, services,... Thereby, units, individuals who not only succeed in business but also serve as friendship emissary to build up people-to-people affection between the two countries will be honored," shared Thuy.

In his part, Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City spoke highly of VUFO Southern Office's preparation for anniversary events to celebrate 45 years of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations establishment. He also acknowledged that the Consulate General would like to support and contribute to the special journal.

The Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City proposed to hold events in both direct and virtual form so that organizations and enterprises in Thailand could join in case that the COVID-19 pandemic shows any complicated development.

Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom said that in recent years, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand has coordinated with Thai businesses' departments in charge of social security to hold activities such as blood donation, teaching, helping poor patients, supporting eye surgery, donating wheelchairs to people with disabilities, building schools, exchanging students in summer camps...

In the coming time, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote community activities by calling on Thai businesses to implement their social responsibilities in Vietnam. Activities will be focused on the Mekong Delta provinces, especially those affected by the saline intrusion.
