New impetus for people-to-people diplomacy

According to Thong, external affairs is one of the most important elements of the Congress’s theme. Foreign affairs must put the interests of the nation and the people on top and respect the basic principles of the Charter of the United Nations, International Law that is equality, mutual benefit; combining national strength with the power of the times; proactively and actively integrating into the world in a comprehensive and extensive manner; is a reliable and responsible partner in the international community.

“For the first time a Party’s document affirms continuing to promote the pioneering role of foreign affairs in creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, and mobilizing external resources to develop developing the country, enhancing the country's status and prestige,” Thong added.

“This document also emphasizes mobilizing external resources for national development. We must build a comprehensive and modern diplomacy with 3 pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.”

Developing strategic and action plans

Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Nga – VUFO Chairwoman said that Thong’s comprehensive, insightful presentation has help VUFO’s officials and employees understand fully the Resolution, thereby being aware of their responsibility in the socio-economic construction and development of the country in general, in the people-to-people relations for particular.

VUFO Chairwoman also emphasized that VUFO’s staff was honor when people-to-people diplomacy is regarded one of the three pillars of Vietnam diplomacy.

Mrs Nguyen Phuong Nga also said immediately after this conference, VUFO would thoroughly implement Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress to every of its unit.
