Vietnam weather forecast today July 10

The low pressure that had expanded from the west to southeastern areas, and foehn effect cause high temperatures in the northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen on July 10.

According to the National Hydrometeorological Forecast Centre, the northern region is expected to experience temperatures between 36-39C today. The humidity is around 40-55 percent. The region will have 10-18 hours with a temperature of over 35C.

It is forecast that the hot weather will continue to hit the north in the next three days.

Ultraviolet (UV) index in Hanoi is forecast to hit level 9 while that in central Da Nang city to reach level 11, both defined as very strong, raising the risk of skin damage in direct sunlight.

The prolonged heatwave may cause health issues and increased risks of fires and other accidents at residential areas as demand for electricity spikes.

As the hot spell is highly exacerbated by low humidity, there are warnings of fire and explosion hazards, as well as a high risk of forest fire.

Since the beginning of the year, the average temperature across Vietnam has been 1-2.5 degrees Celsius higher than normal, and the trend is forecast to last until October.

Meanwhile, Southern and Central Highlands have sunny days, with scattered showers and thunderstorms forecast in afternoon and evening.

At least 62 people have been killed as torrential rain triggers floods and mudslides in southern and western Japan. Days of heavy rain have already caused serious damage in Kyushu. More than three million residents were advised to evacuate across Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest island, but it was unclear how many did. Outside Kyushu, one electrician died after being hit by a fallen tree while working to fix a blackout in Shizuoka Prefecture in central Japan, NHK reported.

Tens of thousands of troops, police officers and other rescue workers have been mobilized to work their way through mud and debris in the hardest-hit towns along the Kuma River — known as the “raging river” because it is joined by another river just upstream and often floods — in Japan’s southernmost main island, Kyushu.

NHK television footage showed swollen water in the Hida River tearing into the embankment and destroying a national highway.
