Vietnam’s weather forecast

Rainfall is forecast to increase across Vietnam in July, especially during the last ten days of the month.

July 5

Showers are in the forecast throughout Vietnam on July 5, particularly in the northern mountainous region that is expected to be hit by heavy rains, whirlwinds, lightning and strong winds.

According to the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the lowest temperature in Hanoi will range from 26-29C while the highest temperature from 32-35C.

From Da Nang city to Binh Thuan province, the lowest temperature is 25-28C, and the highest temperature, 33-36C, even mounting to 36C.

The southern region will experience daytime temperature from 25-32C, the highest in 13 hours. Thunderstorms are forecast for July 5 night, with temperature from 27-28C.

July 6-8

Hanoi and localities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan province will experience daytime of hot weather, and showers and thunderstorms evening and night, the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said. Meanwhile, in the southern region, there are showers and thunderstorms.

July 9-14

Similar weather patterns are forecast for the above-said localities from July 9-14, the centre said.

Rainfall is forecast to increase across Vietnam in July, especially during the last ten days of the month.

Chances of rain and thunderstorms will increase in northern and central provinces this month, while seasonal downpours in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam will also intensify, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Medium to heavy rain is expected to dampen northern localities between July 2 and 4, accompanied by cyclones, lightning, and gusts, as well as flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous localities.

In Hanoi, showers are in the forecast throughout the day.

Rainfall will decrease in the region on July 5 and 6, though temperatures will surge.

Authorities are on the watch for forest fires they believe might crop up as a result of the extreme heat.

From July 11 to 20, rainfall in most regions of Vietnam will be 15 to 25 percent lower than the average amount recorded in previous years.

However, rain throughout the country will be 15 to 25 percent higher than previous years between July 21 and 31.

A tropical depression is also likely to form in the East Vietnam Sea in late July and may strengthen into a storm, resulting in bad weather in the mainland.

China weather forecast

July is scorching and humid throughout most of China — it's the hottest month. In some places, it is also the rainiest month.

The Ministry of Water Resources on July 3 warned of extreme weather during the flood season and called on local authorities to prepare for the floods.

Since the start of this year's flood season, 279 rivers in 17 provinces were struck by floods above-warning-level, 50 percent higher than that of the same period since 1998, the Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said.

Forecasts showed China has entered the main flood season with more extreme weather and heavier precipitation to be expected.

Stronger typhoons and severe floods are expected to hit the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Taihu Lake, the second Songhua River and Liaohe River.

The upper reaches of the Yellow River are also likely to face floods, the forecasts said.

Thailand weather forecast

Temperatures drop slightly throughout Thailand in July (avg temp: 28 - 29°C), and as the month progresses, rainfall will increase with short daily showers likely to become more prolonged as you move towards August, and some of the heaviest rains of the year.

In Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle region, heavy rains will make trekking hard work; however the countryside is more green and lush, and the rivers and waterfalls are in full flow.

In terms of beaches, the islands of Koh Chang and Koh Kood are particularly wet in July. Further south, rough seas may be experienced off the west coast and the beaches of Phuket, Krabi and Khao Lak have a much higher chance of heavy downpours than the east coast beaches of Koh Samui, Khanom and Koh Pha Ngan, which are significantly drier and are still enjoying prolonged sunny spells. July is a particularly popular month for diving around Koh Tao.

Singapore weather forecast

The wet weather is forecast to continue into the first half of July 2020. During this period, the daily maximum temperature is expected to range between 32°C and 33°C with daily highs of around 34°C on a few days.

With the prevailing Southwest Monsoon persisting in July 2020, the low-level winds over Singapore and the surrounding region are forecast to blow mostly from the southeast or southwest, and to blow from the east on a few days.

Over the next two weeks, the monsoon rain band is forecast to remain over the equatorial Southeast Asia region. On most days during the period, short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers can be expected between the late morning and afternoon over parts of the island. On one or two of these days, the thundery showers could extend into the evening. Towards the latter part of the fortnight, convergence of winds in the surrounding vicinity is expected to bring Sumatra squalls with widespread thundery showers between predawn and morning on one to two days. In addition, thundery showers are forecast on a few nights.  Overall, the rainfall for the first half of July 2020 is forecast to be above-average over most parts of the island.

During the fortnight, the daily temperature on most days is forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C, and could reach around 34°C on a few days. The daily minimum temperature could drop to a low of around 23°C on some rainy days.
