Nearly a third of pilots in Pakistan have fraudulent licenses

Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Pakistan’s aviation minister told the nation’s general assembly Wednesday that 262 of the country’s 860 active aviators had someone else take their licensing test, and “don’t have flying experience”.

As reported by New York Daily News, those unlicensed fliers were reportedly identified and grounded by Pakistan International Airlines.

The announcement stems from an investigation of a May 22 plane crash that killed nearly 100 people in Karachi.

Whether the pilots on that flight had legitimate licenses or not is still unclear, but those pilots are reported to have ignored the warnings from air traffic control before botching their landing.

CDC: COVID-19 cases in US might be 10 times higher than reported

New estimates from the Central for Disease Control and Prevention reveal the true COVID-19 cumulative cases in the US might top 20 million, 10 times higher than the recorded one.

"Our best estimate right now is that for every case that's reported, there actually are 10 other infections," Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the CDC, said on a call with reporters Thursday.

The assessment comes from looking at blood samples for the presence of antibodies to the virus across the states. For an average of one confirmed case, there are 10 more others had antibodies, Redfield said, referring to proteins in the blood that indicate whether a person's immune system has previously fought off the coronavirus.

The estimation comes amid rises in cases across the Southeast and Western U.S., particularly among younger adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s, NBC News said.

Delhi hotel association halts bookings for Chinese guests

Over 3,000 hotels and guest houses of the Delhi hotel would no longer provide accommodation for Chinese guests, the Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association announced.

The decision was taken along the lines of the call to boycott Chinese products, during a meeting of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Tuesday, association president Sandeep Khandelwal said. He added that the association would also try to get five-star hotels on board with this decision. While a majority of hotels have agreed with the decision, no one will be forced to follow it.

The decision was made at a time when the Indian hospitality industry is already reeling under heavy losses due to lack of tourism and closure of hotels in the wake of the coronavirus shutdown.
