Amid the complex Covid-19 situation in Thuan Thanh District in Bac Ninh Province, which borders Hanoi, Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh on May 9 worked with Kim Son Commune in Gia Lam District where the reported coronavirus cases linked to the outbreak in Thuan Thanh, according to VnExpress.

The chairman said that although the city had made efforts to prevent and control the pandemic, it was likely to record a surge in new infections in the upcoming days due to three sources of transmission. The first source could be from 1,500 F1 cases that had been put under centralized quarantine and had samples taken for Covid-19 testing.

The second source may stem from cases related to two outbreaks in the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District and K Hospital.

There are about 5,000 cases in Hanoi related to the outbreak in K Hospital. The city has taken samples from them for Covid-19 testing, with 1,000 cases still awaiting results. People in supermarkets, restaurants and residential establishments surrounding the hospital have all tested negative for the virus once. Meanwhile, 2,000 cases linked to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases have also tested negative.

The third possible source of infection, according to the chairman, derives from an F0 in the city’s neighboring localities. The city has documented Covid-19 patients linked to outbreaks in Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc.
