The handover ceremony is honored to have the attendance of Truong Tan Sang – Former President of Vietnam; Don Lam – Co-Founder and CEO of VinaCapital Group, Director of VinaCapital GS Energy Pte. Ltd., Chairman of the Board of VCF; Yunjae Hwang, Chief Representative, GS Energy Vietnam; Nguyen Van Ranh – Vice President of SAPP HCMC and Rad Kivette – CEO of VCF.

Located in the northwest of Long An province and in a remote rural area of Dong Thap Muoi, bordering Cambodia, Vinh Hung district is heavily affected by floods and saltwater intrusion every year. The region has limited water resources, lacking clean water for drinking and daily purposes. Unsafe water is one of the major reasons for reduced quality of life and negatively impacts public health, especially in the development of children.

Through the “Clean Water for Schools” program – an initiative founded by Former President Truong Tan Sang and Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, Chairman of Global Integration Business Consultants (GIBC), VCF, along with the SAPP HCMC, received VinaCapital GS Energy’s support with a budget of VND 2 billion (USD 86.763) to implement the clean water project for all 23 schools from kindergarten to high school in Vinh Hung district, providing clean water for all students, staff and teachers there.

The project is carried out from January to April 2021. In January 2021, VCF and SAPP HCMC installed 21 clean water systems in 13 kindergartens and primary schools. In April 2021, 28 systems have been implemented in 10 secondary and high schools.

The project has brought safe drinking water to 960 staff and teachers as well as 11,342 students, ensuring their health and reducing water-transmitted diseases, creating better conditions at schools for everyone.

Moreover, through SAPP HCMC and VCF, VinaCapital GS Energy Pte. Ltd. also awarded 100 scholarships for 100 disadvantaged students with excellent academic results in the district to stay in school and lift the burden for their families.

This is the encouragement for their efforts and achievements, motivating the students and increasing their determination and perseverance to study and self-develop to become knowledgeable individuals who contribute to society.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Don Lam, Co-founder and CEO of VinaCapital Group, Director of VinaCapital GS Energy Pte. Ltd., Chairman of the Board of VCF shared: “Investing in education and healthcare for children is one of the best investments we can make to contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable development. Through the 'Clean Water for Schools' program, together with the enthusiastic support of the SAPP HCMC, we strive to provide access to quality health care and education for every child and for the positive development of communities. Awarding scholarships and providing clean water to students are activities that VCF has provided for years, and will maintain for many more years to come.”

Since the beginning of 2017, the program “Clean Water for Schools” has successfully raised over VND 27 billion (USD 1.1 million), and completed the installation and handover of 1,208 clean drinking water filtration systems, which benefit more than 167,300 students and teachers at 369 main schools and sub-schools in Tan Tru (Long An province), Thanh Phu (Ben Tre province), Nui Thanh (Quang Nam province), Ba Tri and Binh Dai (Ben Tre province), Bac Binh (Binh Thuan province) and now Vinh Hung district (Long An province)./.
