69th Anniversary of Moncada Barracks Battle Commemorated in Vietnam

Get-togethers were held by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association to mark the 69th anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack in Cuba (July 26).
The July 25 gather in HCM City was held with the participation of Do Viet Ha - HUFO President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Hien - President of the HCM City's Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, Ariadne Feo Labrada - Consul General of Cuba in HCM City, Sok Dareth - Consul General of Cambodia, Agustaviano Sofjan - Consul General of Indonesia, Timur Sadykov - Consul General of Russia and representatives of a number of departments, and branches of the city, and the Cuban community living and working in the city.
Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in HCM City Truong Thi Hien extended congratulations to the Consul General, Cuban leaders and people on the occasion of the great event. She emphasized that although the two countries are geographically far apart, they are always proud of the close, loyal, pure and sincere relationship between the two States and two peoples.
For many years, the HUFO has coordinated with the city's Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association to organize a variety of activities to enhance the friendship and create conditions for the people of the two countries to meet and exchange cultures. Thereby, promoting a closer relationship between the two sides.
Touched by the affection of the Vietnamese people for the Cuban people, Cuban Consul General in HCM City Ariadne Feo Labrada sent her sincere thanks for the sentiments of the Vietnamese leaders and people. 69 years ago, the attack on the Moncada Barracks by young Cuban patriots led Fidel Castro, the great leader of Cuba, opened up a new stage of development during the Cuban revolution.

Consul General Labrada affirmed that this event is an opportunity for Vietnam - Cuba to further strengthen cooperation and links with other nations. "Today, let's celebrate the victories of the Cuban and Vietnamese peoples, friendship, international solidarity. Nothing is more noble than the love and solidarity that binds us to our brotherly peoples, with the city named after Uncle Ho, the cradle of millions of heroes and martyrs, who with their blood and bones wrote heroic and glorious pages of history for independence and freedom," said Labrada.

In Hanoi, a similar event was hosted by the central Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association and the Defense Industry Technical-Economic Corporation (GAET) on July 26.
Top leaders of Vietnam on July 26 extended their greetings to their Cuban counterparts on the 69th anniversary of the Attack on Moncada Barracks, VNA reported.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent their greetings to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cabled a congratulatory message to his Cuban counterpart Manuel Marrero Cruz.
Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue congratulated President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo.
Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent his greetings to his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
