"When I brought her ashore, the woman was probably still tired and panicked, so she didn't say anything to me. I sent her over to the police and went home," said Lieutenant Thu. On the evening of September 17, the woman's husband came over to thank him, and said when she was stable, he would ask her to thank for saving her life.
"Knowing that the reason was also due to the conflict between the husband and wife, I also advised the husband on encouragement and ideological work with his wife to prevent similar incidents from happening, and no need to thank me anymore because I determined that this was what I must do to save people, not for anything," said Lieutenant Thu.
"At that time, I just followed my instincts, seeing that the girl was on a very thin line between life and death, so I jumped into the river. I also didn't think when I got down whether I could save her, or even survive or not," he added.
