(VNF) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil held a ceremony on July 5th to present the third prize of the National External Information Service Awards 2016 to William Gsiant, a presenter of TV Supren in Brasilia.

Brazilian TV presenter wins third prize in external information service

Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Do Ba Khoa delivers his speech at the award ceremony on July 5th.

In his speech at the award ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Do Ba Khoa said that the competition aims to confirm the crucial role of external information services in popularising Vietnamese culture, history and people as well as providing accurate information on the situation in Vietnam, the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, and the country’s standpoints on regional and international issues.

He congratulated Gsiant on winning the prize, saying the award is recognition from the Vietnamese Government to his work “Talking with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”.

The Ambassador wished Gsiant will continue to create more works about Vietnam to boost mutual understanding between two countries.

He also thanked the host country’s press and communication agencies for working with the Brazilian Government and Vietnamese Embassy to promote Vietnam and bring the two cultures closer together.

On his part, Gsiant expressed his honour at receiving the prize and said it is an important milestone in his career. He also promised to create more work illustrating his love for Vietnam and its people.

After the ceremony, Brazilian reporters also asked the Vietnamese Embassy to provide more documents on Vietnam, including the National External Information Service Awards 2017.

The National External Information Service Awards were launched in Vietnam in 2014, aiming to update domestic readers on the latest developments in the region and around the world, as well as connecting Vietnam with the international community and overseas Vietnamese.

This year's contest received 893 entries in 17 languages, up 21 per cent in number of entries and six languages more compared to the event in 2015.

The entries were created in 17 languages: Vietnamese, English, French, German, Russian, Slovakian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, Laos, Thais, Indonesian, Korean and Persian. Authors include Vietnamese and foreign journalists, experts, researchers, photographers, publishers, and Vietnamese expatriates./.
