The painting contest is open to children in 3 age groups: 6 to 9, 10 to 12, and 13 to 16 years old. In all three age groups, the winner of the Grand Prize will be rewarded with a one-week trip to the Russian Federation (for Vietnamese candidates) or Vietnam (for Russian candidates). In addition, there are also First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Consolation Prize.
Overall assessment of the judges indicated that although the number of entries for the contest is less than in previous years, the children's paintings are very authentic. Most of them are pictures showing friendship and close meetings and interactions between Vietnamese and Russian children. The entries have many unique ideas and stick to the theme of culture, country, and people of Russia and Vietnam. They cover diverse topics, convey many new perspectives, and show creativity and artistry about the world.
Trinh Quoc Khanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, shared that the contest “I draw Vietnam - I draw Russia” aims to encourage children, who are the future young generation of each country, to learn more about the culture of the other country, and at the same time show their understanding. Through paintings, couples, and children can express the beauty of friendship between the two peoples through their artworks.

At the evaluation session, painter Le Thanh Minh, a member of the jury, said that this year, although there are fewer contestants, the paintings were highly rated. The works submitted are appropriate for the age, pure, and innocent from the layout to the color. The observation and artistic skills of all ages are also better this year. In addition, the topic this year is also indicating more interesting perspectives than last year.
Elena Bezdetko, wife of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, and also a member of the jury spoke highly of the quality of this year's contest. She said: “This is an opportunity for young people of the two countries Vietnam and Russia to get to know each other, in order to improve their understanding and imagination about the other country through their artworks. Thereby, the young generations will better understand the history, culture, nature, customs, and habits of Vietnam and Russia, as well as the friendship of the two peoples.”
