Chinese Ambassador highly appreciates Vietnam’s preparation for elections
On May 23, voters across Vietnam will go to the polls to elect the deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure.
This is an important political event to choose deserved deputies who represent will, aspirations and mastery of citizens, contributing to building, consolidating and perfecting the socialist rule of law State of the people, by the people, for the people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On this occasion, Vietnam News Agency had an interview with Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo about the significances of the elections in the socio-political life of Vietnamese as well as the country’s preparation for the event amidst the complicated development of Covid-19.
Ambassador Xiong Bo affirmed the elections’ great political significances, emphasizing that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong personally chaired the conference on election implementation as well as closely directed the preparation.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited many localities such as Hai Phong, Tuyen Quang and Quang Ninh to monitor the preparation work.
He added that in ministries, departments, and localities, officials and people have actively taken part in the political consultation process.
The diplomat added that as two socialist countries, under the leadership of Communist Parties, China and Vietnam pursue a people-centered development path, stressing that candidates for the 15th National Assembly came from all classes and occupations.

One-fifth of the candidates are ethnic minority people and 45 percent are females, which is much higher than the previous elections.
The preparation for the elections in Vietnam is a demonstration of steadfastness in the Party's leadership, people’s right to mastery and national governance in line with the law.
Amidst the complex Covid-19 situation, Ambassador Xiong Bo spoke highly of Vietnam’s application of information technology in elections to ensure that it would take place safely and orderly.
He expressed his belief that the elections would be successful. Vietnamese constituents would select capable and virtuous deputies to lead the country to realize resolutions set out by the 13th National Party Congress.
On this occasion, the Ambassador highly appreciated the cooperative and friendly relationship between Chinese and Vietnamese legislatures.
In July 2019, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid a visit to China. She was received by and held talks with Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu, and Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Yang.
During the meetings, both sides reached important common perception on exchanging experience on national governance and fostering cooperation between legislative bodies.
He pledged to continue working to beef up exchanges between the two legislatures, contributing to the development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Earlier, in a recent interview with the media, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama also expressed a belief that the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2025 tenure would be a success, as pandemic prevention and control work had been implemented drastically and effectively. The ambassador said Vietnam would have a new legislature that meets the country’s requirements. |
