No new cases, 926 patients cured

No new community COVID-19 cases were recorded in Vietnam within the last 13 days as of 6 am of September 15, keeping the tally in the country at 1,063, according to the national steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control.

Of the total, 691 were infected with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 domestically, including 551 linked with central Da Nang city since the latest outbreak began there on July 25. As many as 926 patients have recovered while 35 died from complications related to the disease. Most of the fatalities were the elderly with serious underlying health conditions

Among those still under treatment, 13 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 13 others twice and 19 thrice. There are 33,605 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions under quarantine at present.

Following the direction of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention of Da Nang, the Director of Da Nang Police asked competent agencies to stop their duties at the medical checkpoints at all entrances to the city from August 14.

At the same time, the Director of Da Nang Police asked the Logistics Department to coordinate with district police to clean up at medical quarantine points.

In addition, the leaders of the Da Nang Police also asked the district police to direct the ward and commune police, especially the regional police, to strengthen the work of closely understanding all foreigners and Vietnamese citizens residing in Da Nang localities, in order to promptly discover and coordinate with the medical force to quarantine people coming from epidemic areas.

Major cities prepare self-paid quarantine facilities with capacity of 10,000 people

The Government Office has just released Notice No. 326 / TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Standing meeting of the Government on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.

Accordingly, localities, typically Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and neighboring provinces of these 3 cities need to urgently select accommodation facilities to be used as self-paid isolation centers with the total capacity of least 10,000 people and may increase gradually in the near future.

Along with that, the Government Office asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to step by step increase the frequency of flights from low-risk countries to bring experts, investors, and skilled workers to and from their home countries, Tien Phong cited.

MOT: Not ready to re-open flight routes on September 15

On the afternoon of September 14, the Ministry of Transport had a meeting with relevant ministries and agencies to agree on the plan to reopen international routes to countries with good epidemic prevention results, Thanh Nien cited.

"Currently the health agency is finalizing plans, procedures for medical examination and isolation for groups of subjects permitted to enter," said the representative of the Ministry of Transport. It is expected that this plan will be submitted to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 prevention and control on September 17.

Previously, the Government Office issued Notice No. 326 on the conclusion of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Standing meeting of the Government on Covid-19 epidemic prevention on September 11, which announced that the reopening of international routes to China, Japan, Korea would be re-operated from September 15.
