36 hours of no new cases recorded

On the morning of September 4, Vietnam did not recognize any new case of Covid-19. Vietnam is working on a plan to conduct rapid tests at international airports, border gates, and places where public places are crowded. So far, the total number of infection cases in Vietnam remains at 1,046 including 35 deaths. Vietnam has a total of 691 cases of Covid-19 due to domestic infections, of which the number of new cases from July 25 to now is 551.

At the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Disease Control Covid-19 on September 3, experts emphasized the view of living safely with the pandemic and discussed in-depth about testing strategies suitable to the new situation, Dan Tri cited.

Vietnam has the 35th death relating to Covid-19

On the afternoon of September 3, the Ministry of Health confirmed that one more death, which was patient number 761, an 83-year-old female. She has a history of end-stage chronic kidney failure, cyclic hemodialysis, increased blood pressure, and temporary gastrointestinal bleeding.

Death diagnosis: severe pneumonia, progressive respiratory failure caused by Covid-19, complications of septicemia in patients with end-stage chronic renal failure of hemodialysis, hypertension, gastrointestinal bleeding, according to Vietnamnet.

COVID fight costs Vietnam less than 400 million USD

On September 3, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam chaired the meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Zing News cited.

Discussing testing strategies in the new situation, the National Steering Committee said that up to now, with a population of nearly 100 million people, the total cost for COVID-19 prevention is less than 400 million USD. With the above costs, Vietnam is one of the rare countries that come up with the most successful yet economical strategy to fight against the pandemic.

Referring to the dual goal of pandemic prevention and economic development in the coming time, the Steering Committee suggests that in the immediate future, commercial flights must be opened to welcome foreign experts and investors to benefit the country.

Vietnam plans to change the testing strategy for COVID-19

Also in the meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on September 3, experts emphasized that the testing strategy must be changed towards organizing rapid testing at international airports, border gates, and public places with a large concentration of people.

Currently, 3 units in Vietnam have studied fast antigen test kits that reaching the final stages. Representatives of research and production units of test products affirmed their ability to fully research and produce fast test biological sets for antigens with quality equivalent to those produced by developed countries.

At the meeting, experts suggested that while waiting for domestically manufactured products, Vietnam might consider importing high-quality antigen rapid test kits from some developed countries. Regarding production plans for vaccines against COVID-19, experts agree on a spirit of self-reliance.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regional online conference is taking place from 1 to 4 September, with the goal of planning the response and recovery toward the consequences of the dual disaster: COVID-19 and food shortage in the area of Asia - Pacific.

The delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and about 400 delegates from countries in the region are participating in online FA)'s 35th Asia-Pacific Conference held by The Butane Royal Government organized.

At the meeting, the parties were introduced to detailed information about the Comprehensive Covid-19's Alleviation and Response Program. The main goal of the program is to minimize the immediate impact of the COVID-19 epidemic while enhancing longer-term resilience on the food security and livelihood capacity, according to a statement on Tuesday by the UN Office in Viet Nam.
