Covid Gift Packages Presented to Foreigners, Students in Hanoi

Following the program to support international friends facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Hanoi, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) on Sep. 4 cooperated with the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Gia Lam district's authorities and Vietnam National University of Agriculture and held a gift-giving ceremony for international students.
Nguyen Lan Huong, president of the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and HAUFO chaired the program and presented 25 gifts of necessities, medical supplies and 1,500,000 VND to 25 foreign students from Angola, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Mozambique, USA and Japan.
This gifts were part of a total of 270 gifts given by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to struggling foreigners living, studying and working in Hanoi on the occasion of the National Day (Sep.2) celebration, worth a total VND 229.5 million.
As planned, they will continue to hand over the support packages to foreign students in difficulty on Sep. 5 at the University of Science and Technology, University of Civil Engineering, University of Economics, and University of Mining and Geology, and continue assisting more people in need living in the city.

Previously, from Sept. 1 to Sept. 3, the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and HAUFO carried on the support program for needy foreigners and handed over 70 gift packages to foreign nationals residing in in Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho districts.
Recently, HAUFO has mobilized embassies and foreign NGOs to join hands to fight Covid-19; at the same time, they have sent official dispatches to districts, towns and member friendship associations to review foreigners living, studying and working in Hanoi facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
In a short time, HAUFO has received the support of a number of units such as the embassies of Qatar, Cambodia, the Philippines and the Samaritan’s Purse International Relief.
The Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and HAUFO on Sept. 1 also presented gifts included essential supplies, basic medicines and VND 500,000 each for 29 foreigners facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 living in Hoan Kiem district.
HAUFO also on Aug. 28 in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ba Dinh district and Samaritan’s Purse International Relief held a “zero VND pavilion," distributing 250 support packages worth VND 700,000 each to disadvantaged households in Phuc Xa ward.
According to HAUFO Vice President Tran Thi Phuong, HAUFO has also received a list of 270 foreigners and members facing difficulties due to Covid-19. HAUFO also has been sending a document to the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to propose supporting these groups to partly overcome social distancing.
Hanoi on Sept. 3 has just conducted a blockade of a residential area of 4,000 people in An Duong street, Yen Phu ward, Tay Ho district, after identifying a case of Covid. Specifically, the district has temporarily blocked alley 32/76 of An Duong street.
Tay Ho district is a place where many foreigners live and visit, so HAUFO's timely support helped international friends feel more secure to overcome the stress of the pandemic.
