"Chao Tieng Viet" (Hello Vietnamese) book series in Belgium public libraries
What has the Vietnam Education Publishing House implemented to spread and preserve Vietnamese in the world?
In 66 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Education Publishing House compiled and published many books for learning, research, and teaching to improve knowledge and love for the Vietnamese language, literature, and culture.
These include several sets of books teaching Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese, and most recently the "Chao Tieng Viet" (Hello Vietnamese) series of books compiled by Nguyen Thuy Anh.
We are glad that in the past year, the publications of the Vietnam Education Publishing House reached the community in many countries around the world such as Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
The set of books "Chao Tieng Viet" (Hello Vietnamese) was also honored to become a gift from Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese community in some countries.
In the Kingdom of Belgium, the book series has been put into public libraries of regions and localities, so that people can borrow and use it flexibly according to their needs.
In Qatar, classes according to the series have been deployed regularly since April 2023.
Can you introduce the newly launched Vietnamese bookcase model to the overseas Vietnamese community?
The year 2023 is the first year that the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs build libraries, introduce books, spread Vietnamese culture in other countries, provide Vietnamese language teaching materials, and support Vietnamese teaching for communities around the world.
These activities respond to the Government's project "Honoring the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community in the period of 2023-2030."
The Vietnamese bookcase is a collaborative product between the two parties for new learners of Vietnamese (Vietnamese, 2nd, 3rd generation Vietnamese living abroad, children of multicultural families between Vietnamese and foreigners), Vietnamese language teachers, and Vietnamese language learners in the community.
The bookcase also introduces the access code for the "Learn Vietnamese with VTV4" program - teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese children abroad produced by the publishing house in collaboration with VTV4.
The Vietnam Education Publishing House implemented the Vietnamese bookcase model and sent it to the Vietnamese representative offices in Fukuoka (Japan), Hungary.

Support in teaching Vietnamese
What kind of books are in the Vietnamese bookcase?
The bookcase includes Vietnamese teaching and learning materials, reference materials, bilingual support, and advanced supplementary materials.
Vietnamese teaching and learning materials will have Vietnamese language learning materials for overseas Vietnamese children from 6-15 years old.
The bilingual support materials include a bilingual illustrated dictionary (English-Vietnamese) (helps students look up and learn vocabulary easily with pictures in many different fields), and bilingual science comics (English-Vietnamese) (used to look up, learn words, and learn Vietnamese used in science).
Advanced supplementary materials help improve Vietnamese reading comprehension, bringing readers to the treasure of Vietnamese folklore and contemporary literature.
What plans will the Vietnam Education Publishing House have to support the teaching and learning of Vietnamese abroad?
In the coming time, the Vietnam Education Publishing House will continue to study more options to be able to deploy the model of Vietnamese bookcases flexibly to different locations.
We hope that the books of the publishing house will support the community's Vietnamese teaching work, as well as contribute to a cultural bridge to connect young people around the world with Vietnam.
In addition, we continue to deploy the next levels of the "Chao Tieng Viet" (Hello Vietnamese) series, to ensure adequate teaching materials according to the six competency levels in the program issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
