Daniel Nguyen Hoai Tien was born and raised in Orange County (California, USA) in a Vietnamese family. However, during childhood, he had limited exposure to his mother tongue. His turning point came when he enrolled in a Vietnamese language course at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). “This is the starting point of my journey to my roots,” said Daniel. From there, his mother tongue became the key to a deeper experience in discovering his identity and connecting with his homeland.
