Vietnam aviation to increase flight schedule amid COVID-19 pandemic

Before the situation of COVID-19 epidemic was controlled, from April 23, the airlines Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet and VASCO all announced the enhancement of domestic flight routes, gradually restored economic bridges between localities.

Similarly, from April 23 - 30, Vietnam Airlines will operate flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of 4-6 flights/day, then increase to 11 flights/day from May 2020. The routes between Da Nang and Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City are operated with 1-2 frequency/day and increased to 4-5 flights/day from May 5/2020.

For the remaining routes, Vietnam Airlines will gradually expand its operation with different return times on each flight route; At the same time, it will coordinate with Jetstar Pacific to make codeshare flights on a number of routes in the period from 24 - 30/4.

Specifically, the airline will re-operate 1 flight/day on routes between Hanoi and Da Lat, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc; between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hue, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. Other routes are re-operated with frequency of 3-4 flights/week including between Hanoi and Can Tho, Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Hue, Vinh, Chu Lai; between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Dong Hoi and Chu Lai. Some routes will continue to be increased to 1-2 flights/day from May 2020.

Jetstar Pacific Airlines also increased the frequency of flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to 2 flights/day. Flights are operated in the form of codeshare partnership under the "dual brand" strategy with Vietnam Airlines. Meanwhile, low-cost carrier Vietjet has increased the frequency of return flights carrying passengers to six per day between Ha Noi and HCM City; three return flights per day between Ha Noi/HCM City and Da Nang, and one return flight per day on several domestic routes.

Vietjet was also giving away tickets priced from only VND9,000 (US$0.4) on all domestic flights until this Saturday, the airline announced on Thursday.

The super-cheap airfares are available from noon to 2pm at www.vietjetair.com for flights departing from April 23 to December 31 (excluding national holidays), reported by Vietnam News

Flight service company VASCO began to fly back with 1 flight/day on April 25 and April 27 on routes between Hanoi and Dien Bien; between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao, Ca Mau. From 5/2020, the airline will operate 1 flight/day on the flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao; 3 flights/week on remaining routes.

To ensure the health of passengers and the community, Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and VASCO maintain disinfection spraying of the entire aircraft, while implementing measures to conduct health check. Passengers at the airport comply with the regulations of the Vietnam Aviation Administration. The flight crew consists of pilots, flight attendants are equipped with masks, gloves, and eyeglasses. Passengers traveling on the plane during this time are required to wear a mask during the flight.

Flight schedule in this period will be operated flexibly by the airlines according to the actual exploitation situation. In case the flight schedule must be changed, passengers will be supported to change the flight date or change itinerary according to the current regulations, reported by Bao tin tuc.
