Football Tournament Connects Vietnamese Community in Southern Germany
The football tournament is a valuable platform for Vietnamese people in Germany, especially the younger generation born and raised here, to maintain their love for their homeland.

Seven Vietnamese football teams from prominent cities in Southern Germany, including Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Nürnberg, München, and Rosenheim, along with FC Zürich from Switzerland, participated in this highly anticipated event. The tournament was divided into two groups, A and B, with matches conducted in an exciting and competitive atmosphere. Despite being far from home, the players demonstrated solidarity, love for their homeland, and national pride through their dedicated performance.

In his opening speech, Nguyen Thanh Cong, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of sporting events in fostering connections within the Vietnamese community in Germany. He highlighted that this tournament provides a healthy platform for generations of Vietnamese people in Germany, especially the young generation, to preserve their love for their homeland and express their national pride.

Throughout the day, the teams delivered thrilling matches and showcased their skill. The matches were fair and serious yet infused with excitement, buoyed by enthusiastic support from the audience. Augsburg team won the championship with a well-deserved 2-0 victory over FC Zürich. The Best Team Award was presented to the team from Munich, marking a proud achievement for the team and its supporters.

This football tournament not only provided an opportunity for the teams to display their talents but also served as a platform for Vietnamese communities in different cities across Germany and Switzerland to meet, exchange, and strengthen solidarity. Players and fans alike felt a deep sense of pride in being part of a robust community that continues to look towards the Fatherland, even while living and working abroad.
