The Embassy of Spain in Vietnam, Spanish famous architect Salvador Perez Arroyo and the Vietnam Women's Museum will co-organize the photo exhibition entitled "Happy streets" from July 31.The exhibition's opening ceremony is going to be held on Friday, July 31, participated and given speech by the Spanish ambassador to Vietnam.

New update on the exhibition's opening ceremony on July 30:

The opening ceremony planned to take place at 18:00 on July 31 at the Vietnam Women Museum addresses at No 36 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi will be postponed due to new Covid-19 infection cases in the community recently. This postponement is to prevent novel coronavirus transmitting to the community now. Please feel free to take visit to the Museum from July 31 with your safe-protected measures.

The photo exhibition entitled "Happy streets"

The photo exhibition entitled "Happy streets" is jointly organized by the Embassy of Spain in Vietnam, famous Spanish architect Salvador Perez Arroyo and the Vietnam Women's Museum. The exhibition will exhibit 39 works selected from the photo book's publication of the same name by the Spanish architect released earlier this year.

The opening took place on Friday, July 31 at 6pm with a speech given by the Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam María Jesús Figa López-Palop and by the author Salvador Pérez Arroyo. The exhibition is free to open until Sunday, August 16, 2020.

Works of art

"Happy streets" is a sociological experience of modern Vietnamese society through photography. This passionate photographer has explored contemporary Vietnamese life in cities through residents ' interaction in public spaces.

Through photographs of authentic and intense moments, the author reflects the image of today Vietnam: A radiant country with a constantly changing society and public spaces full of young, dynamic and creative atmostphere, showing a perfect balance between modernity and authentic Vietnamese tradition.

Salvador Pérez Arroyo takes photos of Vietnamese streets every day. In the exhibition, the audience can admire the image of vibrant life and the moments showing characters' most true ego. Their facial expressions are really impressive which with their sharp and honest gestures are the moments recorded on the streets of famous Vietnamese cities.

The exhibition

39 black and white paintings printed on various paper sizes will be presented at the exhibition.

The choice of black and white is intentional to capture the attention to something constant and unchanging. Many secrets often hided after color visually appealing and distracting from the eye. According to the author, "under the black and white, the quality of the images will be captured to the most refined level".

About the author

Salvador Pérez Arroyo is a Spanish architect, was born in 1945 in Madrid and currently has been living in Hanoi. He has taught at universities in England, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands and is a speaker at seminars in Berlin and Copenhagen. He has lived and worked for many years in Vietnam and has won the National Architecture Award twice. In addition to his outstanding and long-standing career as an architect, he is also the author of many books and newspapers.

Salvador Pérez Arroyo loves photography and all the photos on display at the exhibition were recorded by his own lens. Though he does not consider himself an expert in this field, his beautiful pictures can lead viewers to interesting stories of normal reality.
