Speaking at the information-sharing session, Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, stated that Vietnam and Türkiye established diplomatic relations on June 7, 1978. Over the past 50 years, the two nations have made significant strides in cooperation across various fields, including politics, economy, and trade. During a meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 23, 2024, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Leaders' Summit in Kazan, Russia, both leaders agreed to work towards increasing bilateral trade turnover to USD 4 billion.

In the wake of the devastating earthquake in southeastern Türkiye in February 2023, Vietnam extended USD 100,000 in aid and dispatched two rescue teams to assist in recovery efforts. This gesture exemplifies the growing strength of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
