The forum is a non-profit civil society organization operating independently in the fields of culture and education. The forum was established following the willing of many overseas Vietnamese people, showing concern of Vietnamese educators living abroad about preserving and spreading Vietnamese language and culture, especially for young Vietnamese generation living overseas.
The forum aims to become a platform to connect those who are interested in teaching and learning Vietnamese and to exchange both professional and amateur experience of teachers and international language experts on teaching Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture abroad. It will also serve as a place to promote the wisdom, knowledge and enthusiasm of those working in the field of education, language and culture.

The forum operators will organize workshops and seminars on various topics focusing on preserving Vietnamese language abroad, and conducting professional training activities thanks to the help of Vietnamese language teaching organizations and professional language experts.
The international forum on preserving Vietnamese language abroad has elected an executive board consisting of 15 members working in a two-year term.
It has five subcommittees, including subcommittee on literature and curriculum; subcommittee on methods and teaching experience; subcommittee on application of technology in teaching and learning Vietnamese; culture and communication subcommittee; sub-Committee on researching the situation of Vietnamese language teaching and learning in other countries.

On June 27, the first international conference on teaching and learning Vietnamese language overseas was held virtually by Lac Long Quan Vietnamese language school and Vietnamese Association in Poland, attracting the participation of more than 110 teachers, linguistic experts and reporters from 26 countries of four continents.
The conference aimed to create a forum for exchanging information and teaching experience among teachers, promoting teaching and learning of Vietnamese language for children abroad, and at the same time to connect and share information about advantages and disadvantages of teaching Vietnamese in the general context of the world today.
The conference had 25 presentations divided into three major topics: General situation of teaching and learning Vietnamese abroad; technology application in teaching and learning; and practical experience in teaching Vietnamese abroad. The conference received diverse and enthusiastic sharing from prestigious language experts and Vietnamese language teachers from many countries around the world.
