Chargé d'Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Vietnam Faraj Shebeeb Mda Alajmi and a large number of officials and employees of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Hanoi on June 20 took part in a blood donation camp in the 108 Military Central Hospital, helping Vietnamese in need.

Every year, Vietnam needs about 2 million blood units for emergency aid, medical treatment, and as reserves for accidents, disasters, and epidemics.

The voluntary blood donation movement has developed strongly, attracting the participation of people from all social strata, from students, civil servants, armed forces personnel, health workers, to religious dignitaries and workers.

During the reception of the Kuwaiti Embassy delegation, National Military Hospital Deputy Director Colonel Le Huu Song expressed his respect for the noble sentiments of all employees of the Kuwaiti Embassy.

The hospital's leadership representative expressed his belief that blood donation will help save many patients in an emergency situation. This is not only a humanitarian activity but also a way to strengthen the feelings of the Vietnamese people and the people of Kuwait, he said.

“Blood supply is never enough, so calling on all sources, not only among Vietnamese people but also the international community is needed." He expressed his hope that this event would open a new cooperationve relationship between the hospital and the Kuwait Embassy in the near future.

Speaking at the event, Chargé d'Affaires Faraj Shebeeb Mda Alajmi said: “During the Covid-19 pandemic, we are extremely grateful and grateful to the doctors, especially the military doctors. Faced with the need for a large blood source for patients, we want to have many social activities, as well as show Kuwait's special affection to the people of Vietnam.

Personally, we really love the country, culture, and people of Vietnam. By doing this, I feel closer and more connected to the country and people of Vietnam. The blood donation is our special thank you to Vietnamese doctors after the Covid-19 pandemic," shared the diplomat.

He spoke highly of the achievements that doctors of the 108 Military Central Hospital have gained in the healthcare field, and he also looks forward to deeper cooperation between the Embassy of State Of Kuwait and the 108 Military Central Hospital in the near future.

Regular blood donation, especially at young ages, help reduce the risk of hemochromatosis, thereby lowering the rate of strokes and cardiovascular diseases, according to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT).

Vietnam and Kuwait established diplomatic relations in 1976. In 2016, the official visit of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Hanoi contributed to further consolidating the relationship. multi-dimensional cooperation between the two countries over the past 40 years by signing a number of cooperation agreements in the fields of culture, art, sports, trade and oil and gas.

Cooperation in the fields of culture, education, justice, environment, energy, agriculture, science and technology are important features in the relationship between Vietnam and Kuwait.

Economic relations between Vietnam and Kuwait have grown constantly over the years, with the bilateral trade exceeding USD 4.78 billion in 2021, up 49% from the previous year.

However, Vietnam has registered a significant trade deficit with Kuwait as it only generated over USD 60 million from the export of mainly mobile phones, electronics, aquatic products, wood and timber products and farm produce to the Middle Eastern country last year.

Its import from Kuwait totaled more than USD 4.7 billion in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 49%, a majority of which was crude oil to be used as input for Nghi Son Oil Refinery.

Kuwait has a population of about 4.3 million and its per capita GDP hits some USD 52,000. It exports around USD 60 billion worth of commodities, mostly crude oil, and imports about USD 30 billion annually.
