Laos-Vietnam Friendship Model Vocational School Started Construction
Construction started on the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Vocational School - a gift of the Vietnamese Party, State and people for the Lao side - in Khammouane province on Jan. 5, reported VNA Wednesday.

Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Vu Tu Oanh said that the school shows the attention by leaders of the two Parties and States to the educational cause and human resources training in Laos in general and Khammouane in particular.
The gift is not big, but has a profound significance as it conveys the faith and hope of Vietnamese Party and State leaders in general and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in particular that the young generation of Laos will be equipped with the best knowledge to build an increasingly prosperous Laos, and help preserve and enhance the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, Oanh stressed.

Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Khammouane Vansay Phongsavan expressed his sincere gratitude to the Party and State leaders, as well as the people of Vietnam, who have always provided support and assistance to Laos, especially in the field of education, stating that the school is a vivid manifestation of the Laos-Vietnam great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
This is an important project in human resources development and training for Khammouane province, and also one of the key projects of the Year of Solidarity and Friendship 2022 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of their Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, he added.
The school is built on an area of 3.7 hectares and has an investment of USD 5 million.

The school, expected to be handed over in December, will provide training in five professions for high-school students, unemployed people and those having demand of job changes, especially those returning from abroad due to impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last week, Quang Ninh province has presented USD 20,000 to the Lao province of Luang Prabang to assist the latter in the fight against Covid-19.
Vietnam’s Consul General in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung handed over the aid to local authorities on Dec. 31, 2021.
On the coming days, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang is set to deliver Quang Ninh’s aid, USD 10,000 each, to the other two northern Lao provinces, Houaphanh and Xayaboury.
Earlier, the first village police station built with support from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in Laos was inaugurated in Nonghet village of Nonghet district, Xiengkhouang province, on Dec. 25, 2021.
It is one of the 287 facilities the ministry is building in the 10 Lao provinces bordering Vietnam.
Khammouane Province, which covers an area of 16,315 square kilometres and is mostly of forested mountainous terrain, is bordered by Bolikhamsai Province to the north and northwest, Vietnam to the east, Savannakhet Province to the south, and Thailand to the west. Khammouane, meaning “happy gold”, is believed to have been named after the gold deposits found in the area hundreds of years ago. The Vietnam-Laos border runs 2,161 kilometers (1,342 miles) across 10 provinces in the north and central parts of the country. |
