At the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control meeting on the afternoon of February 5, the representative of the Ministry of Health says that the research results showed that the new virus strain had a higher transmission coefficient, faster infection, but the incubation period for all variants was all the same, which was about 14 days.
The department, therefore, reviews the final scientific analysis to adjust the duration of concentrated isolation. Other countries are also implementing 14-day quarantine.
Previously assessing that the nCoV variant in the UK had a high infection coefficient, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control advises the Prime Minister to raise the level of prevention to a higher level than usual. In Directive No. 5 on January 28, the Prime Minister requested a period of social separation of 21 days, 7 days longer compared to the previous decision of 14 days.

The Steering Committee states that "the pandemic development in the country is kept under good control". Over the past two days, 6 localities have recorded new cases, most of them already concentrated in isolation, community spreading is unlikely to happen. The pandemic development in Dien Bien has many similarities with Gia Lai. The province has 3 cases of infection, of which 2 cases have been immediately isolated after returning to the locality, the last case was discovered right after getting home.
Dien Bien is urgently tracing, localizing, and stamping out the pandemic. The Ministry of Health has sent a delegation of experts and doctors to support the province in the fight against the pandemic. Experts said that "the pandemic situation in Dien Bien will be controlled soon".
The Ministry of Health recommends that pandemic-striked provinces continue to utilize maximum resources, coordinate with specialized units to actively trace, localize, promptly isolate, and perform large-scale testing.

Provinces that have reported cases in the community need to raise response measures one level higher than the previous outbreak, including social distancing or limiting gathering. F1 should be considered as F0, F2 should be considered as F1. In particular, the Ministry of Health noted that it is necessary to localize and take samples of all people in the area that has recorded community infection.
Mr. Tran Dac Phu - Head of Department of Preventive Medicine, recently assesses that many provinces have been controlling the movement of people "not very well". They may be "too afraid of the pandemic that they tighten the preventive methods so strictly, so people do not dare return to their homeland". Therefore, the Ministry of Health needs to timely provide guidance on clear regulations on pandemic sites and zone.
Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen affirms that specific guidelines are being developed and soon issued. "Localities must not ban people from getting back to their hometown, not overtaking preventive methods, creating obstacles for the people," Deputy Minister Tuyen said.
