Chiefs reportedly to host Texans in Week 1 Thursday night kickoff game
It looks like some information of 2020 NFL schedule is already starting to leak out and one of those leaks involves the first game of the season, CBSS Sport reported.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Houston Texans in the NFL's annual Thursday night kickoff game. The fact that the Chiefs are hosting this game isn't a surprise at all, and that's because the defending Super Bowl champion has hosted the traditional Thursday night opener in 14 of the past 16 years.
With the Chiefs hosting the Texans, that means the NFL won't be scheduling AFC versus NFC games over the first four weeks of the season, which is something that had been reported earlier this week.
Picking an opponent for the Chiefs likely wasn't an easy process for the NFL this year, and that's because the Chiefs simply don't have a very attractive home schedule in 2020. Besides the Texans, the Chiefs are also scheduled to play home games against the Broncos, Raiders, Chargers, Patriots, Jets, Falcons and Panthers. Not an ideal list of teams to choose from when you're trying to choose an opponent for one of the NFL's most high-profile games of the season.
That being said, it makes sense that the NFL went with the Texans, and that's because these two teams played one of the wildest games of the 2019 playoffs last January.
NFL's international games in London, Mexico City are not on the 2020 schedule

A complete, 256-game NFL schedule for 2020 is difficult enough to craft in a normal year when a global pandemic isn't casting a shadow of doubt over how much of the schedule can actually be played — and over where games can actually be played, according to Sporting News.
This year, the NFL's international series is casualty in the creation of the schedule, which the NFL plans to release Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
The league announced Monday that all 2020 games will be scheduled to play in the United States "under consistent protocols focused on the well-being of players, personnel and fans." While the specific matchups and dates for the NFL's 2020 international games had not been set, the Jaguars were slated to host two London games at Wembly Stadium. The Dolphins and Falcons were to host one London game each, presumably both at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Cardinals were to host a game in Mexico City.
These coronavirus-related challenges are why the NFL waited a few extra weeks to release its schedule this year. NBC Sports' Peter King suspects the league was "making multiple schedules, in the case of a reduction to 14 or 12 or 10 games per team," but that "even a 16-game schedule could have major changes."
Marc Ganis, a sports business consultant who is plugged in with top NFL officials, told King he is "very confident of a 16-game season with a Super Bowl in February. ... I didn’t say I was confident in 16 games with a bye, or what week in February the Super Bowl would be, or if every team will play eight games in their home stadiums, or whether there will be fans at every game.
"There’s more information that’s needed before we have these answers. Teams are just going to have be flexible.”

Patriots to host Dolphins in Week 1 season opener
The New England Patriots will get an early chance to play the new-look Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL season, CNBC Sport reported.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported Thursday the Dolphins will play the Patriots in Week 1 (Sunday, Sept. 13) at Gillette Stadium. The full 2020 regular season schedule for all 32 teams will be revealed Thursday night on NFL Network.
The Dolphins and Patriots last met in Foxboro in Week 17 of last season, when Miami upset New England and prevented the defending Super Bowl champs from earning a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs.
Miami is a popular pick to be among the most improved teams in the 2020 campaign after a busy offseason that saw the Dolphins spend huge in free agency and make three picks in the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. One of those draft picks was Alabama's star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who Miami selected at No. 5 overall in Round 1. We don't know if Tagovailoa or veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for the Dolphins in Week 1, but it would be cool if the former Crimson Tide star made his pro debut versus the Patriots.
The New York Post reported Thursday the Patriots will play the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football" on Nov. 9. USA TODAY's Bills Wire also reported Thursday the Patriots will take on the Buffalo Bills at New Era Field a week earlier on Nov. 1.
The AFC East race should be more competitive next season with Tom Brady leaving the Patriots in free agency, but oddsmakers are still confident in New England's chances of winning the division.
Tom Brady's first game for Bucs will reportedly be vs. Drew Brees
The NFL reportedly isn’t easing into the Tom Brady era for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Yahoo News reported.
Nick Underhill, a veteran New Orleans Saints reporter who covers the team at NewOrleans.Football, reported that when the NFL officially releases the regular-season schedule Thursday night, the first week will have a heck of a marquee matchup.
Brady and the Buccaneers will play at the New Orleans Saints, led by Drew Brees. Underhill reported that game will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET in the second window of games for Week 1.

With an array of top-dollar media rights and sponsorship deals, the National Football League ranks among the most lucrative sports organizations in the world, Fox News reported.
While it’s difficult to place a valuation on the NFL as a whole, the league’s 32 franchises were worth a combined sum of more than $91 billion as of last September, according to Forbes. The average NFL franchise has a valuation of $2.86 billion, up 11 percent compared to one year ago and higher than the average valuations in Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League.

Under the NFL’s current collective-bargaining agreement, players are entitled to no more than 48.5 percent of league revenue. The league’s long-term contracts with Fox, NBC, ESPN and other properties account for the majority of its annual revenue.
