Vietnamese community in Slovakia supports Covid-19 vaccine fund

On July 26, at the Vietnam Embassy in Slovak Republic, in response to the call of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, Ambassador Nguyen Tuan chaired the conference to update information on the Covid-19 situation in Vietnam; pandemic control and donation plan to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Attending the conference were representatives of leaders and executive committees of Vietnamese associations and delegations in Slovakia (Vietnamese Association in Slovakia, Women's Union, Business Association).

At the conference, the ambassador informed the various organizations about new developments on the pandemic situation in the home country; calling on individuals, associations, unions and businesses in the Vietnamese community in Slovakia to contribute and support the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Slovak Republic Nguyen Tuan emphasized that the State and Government of Vietnam appreciate all forms of support from overseas Vietnamese, stemming from the heart towards the homeland, contributing to the strength of national unity to bring the country to an early victory over the Covid-19 pandemic.

The conference recognized the positive contributions to the work of associations and unions; strengthening the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Association in Slovakia and the enthusiastic support of the donation plan to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Vietnamese Women's Union in Malaysia donates to Covid-19 vaccine fund

On July 27, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia received an amount of 13,130 ringgit (US$3102) donated by the Vietnam Women's Union in Malaysia to the vaccine fund.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Tran Viet Thai and the counselors and Tran Thi Chang, president of the Vietnamese Women's Union in Malaysia.

Tran Thi Chang said that right from the call, people responded immediately. Although the amount is not large, it is the affection and responsibility of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia for the homeland. She hopes that Vietnam's Covid-19 prevention and control work will soon achieve good results so that people's lives can return to normal.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Tran Viet Thai expressed her deep respect for the Vietnamese community in Malaysia towards the country, especially in the context that Vietnamese people here also face many difficulties due to the influence of the pandemic. At the same time, it was confirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy would transfer the above amount to the country as soon as possible.

Previously, all officers, employees and agencies besides the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia also supported the Covid-19 vaccine fund in Vietnam with at least one day's salary per person. The entire amount raised is 7,720 ringgit (US$1824) and has been transferred to Vietnam.

Ambassador Tran Viet Thai also praised the spirit of solidarity and mutual love of the Embassy staff and their families with specific and practical contributions to share with the country's difficulties in the prevention and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and at the same time ensure health and safety to complete tasks in the area.

Malaysia is in the second phase of the third wave of the pandemic that began in September of last year. The number of new cases per day for the past 14 consecutive days is above 10,000, while the number of deaths is also at a record level. On July 16, Malaysia recorded 207 more deaths from Covid-19. This is the highest level since the outbreak of the Covid-19 in the country.
