Overseas Vietnamese Around the World Celebrate Lunar New Year
No matter where they live or work, Vietnamese people around the world appreciate the homeland traditions of Tet.
Overseas Vietnamese people across continents have celebrated the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival in a warm atmosphere in line with Vietnamese traditions. Despite being away from Vietnam, overseas Vietnamese still replicate the charms of the season.
Vietnamese people in the US make “banh chung” or square glutinous rice cake for the traditional Tet holiday of the nation. “Banh chung” is made of sticky rice, pork, and mung bean wrapped inside a special leaf called “dong” and boiled for about 12 hours. |
