The last few days of 2021, the weather in Preah Sihanouk city, Cambodia is unusually cool. The gentle sea breeze blows away the summer sun and partly washes away people's worries after a year of struggling to cope with the pandemic.

The sea breeze also seems to bring joy to the expatriate workers, who have just received the good news that they can return home after our State decided to resume international flights, including those from Cambodia returning to Vietnam from January 1, 2021. The quarantine period is reduced to 3 days, and citizens can quarantine at home if they have had enough doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Before returning home to reunite with their families on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, some Vietnamese workers in Preah Sihanouk did not forget their responsibilities towards compatriots in difficult circumstances.

Together, they raised a small amount of money to coordinate with the Consulate General of Vietnam and the Khmer-Vietnam Association of Preah Sihanouk province to buy 60 gifts (each gift includes rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, etc. and travel allowance) donated to 60 households of Vietnamese origin who are in difficulties here.

In his thank you speech to the benefactors, the Vietnamese Consul General in Preah Sihanouk province encouraged Vietnamese people to stabilize their lives in the host country, especially when the New Year 2022 is approaching.

On this occasion, the Consul General also encouraged households to soon send their children to learn Khmer/Vietnamese at the headquarters of the Khmer-Vietnam Association. In the current context, most of the children have been vaccinated with a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine, and are eligible to go to class.
