Overseas Vietnamese Offer Support for Covid-19 Fight

The Vietnamese community in Thailand donated 1,469,950 Baht (US$43,918); The community of Vietnamese Students in Thailand donated 10,000 Baht (US$298); The Vietnamese community in the Netherlands donated EUR4,450 (US$5,031); The Vietnamese community in Canada donated 22,470 CAD (US$17,560) and US$1,100; The Vietnamese community in the West Coast (USA) donated US$51,000; The Consulate General of Vietnam, the Vietnamese community, Japanese, and partners in Kyushu-Okinawa donated 5,000,000 yen (US$43,814).
Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu said that the Ambassadors and Consul Generals on behalf of the community, friends, and businesses in the 5 countries mentioned above donated money to support the National Covid-19 Vaccine Fund.
This is the valuable support of the community in the context that Vietnamese people in many parts of the world are also facing difficulties caused by the pandemic. This shows the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, humanity, and mutual affection of our compatriots abroad with people at home. This is also a concrete and practical action in response to Politburo's Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW on overseas Vietnamese work in the new situation.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien thanked Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu, the Ambassadors and Consul Generals for transferring the support money from our compatriots abroad to the people at home.
He said the Covid-19 situation in the country continues to be complicated, but there have been positive changes thanks to timely and effective guidelines and policies of the Party, State and Government. One of the reasons for Vietnam's success in pandemic prevention and control today is thanks to the effective operation of vaccine diplomacy, including the significant contribution of the representative agencies of overseas Vietnamese.
President Do Van Chien affirmed that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will use the contributions and support of the people effectively, to the right people in need. He also expressed his belief that, with the efforts and solidarity of our compatriots abroad, our people will overcome difficulties.
Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu said that the State Committee for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to coordinate with other agencies to implement the work of foreign affairs in the spirit of Conclusion 12-KL/TW and the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The direction emphasized the task of "comprehensively and strongly implementing the work of overseas Vietnamese in the spirit that they are an integral part, and an important resource of the Vietnamese community". |
