	Vietnamese Communities Around the World Celebrate Tet 2025

- In your opinion, in 2024, what achievements have been made in the work on overseas Vietnamese?

In 2024, we focused on two major breakthroughs: national solidarity affairs and promoting overseas Vietnamese resources. In addition, we implemented 7 key tasks in various fields. It can be affirmed that we have successfully completed, even exceeded the set goals.

Regarding national solidarity affairs, many activities have been carried out, notably the 4th Conference of Overseas Vietnamese around the world. This is an opportunity to strengthen connections between overseas Vietnamese communities around the world, in each region, as well as between overseas Vietnamese and the people, agencies and organizations in the country. In addition, we also organized the Forum of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in 2024, attracting many practical initiatives and important contributions.

In the field of resource development, we strongly promote connection activities and support trade promotion both domestically and internationally such as organizing the Trade Promotion Conference of the Vietnam Business Association in Canada with domestic enterprises and localities; promoting the role of the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese (BAOOV); continuing to call on Vietnamese enterprises and businessmen abroad to promote and bring Vietnamese products and goods to foreign markets...

In particular, the Committee has actively spoken to the authorities in the development of laws related to overseas Vietnamese. Typically, regulations on land, housing and citizen identification cards, expanding rights and creating conditions for people to be more connected to their homeland.

We have been promoting the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese to preserve the national language and culture for the younger generation of overseas Vietnamese. This is an activity that has received widespread attention and response from Vietnamese communities around the world.

In addition, in difficult situations, such as the recent natural disasters, community support is carried out promptly and effectively. For example, after the market fire in Poland or the earthquake in Japan, we immediately visited, encouraged and launched movements to support people to overcome the consequences. In particular, the spirit of solidarity of the Vietnamese community is clearly demonstrated when people abroad join hands to help each other, creating a strong and warm connection.

- Could you elaborate on the outstanding contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the country in the past year?

In 2024, the overseas Vietnamese community continued to promote its role and make significant contributions to the development of the homeland. Although there are no official figures yet, we expect that this year's remittances will continue to increase, thereby becoming an important resource to promote socio-economic development, investment and social security stability in the country.

Last year, when natural disasters and floods occurred at home and abroad, the Vietnamese community promptly supported each other. For example, when the recent storm occurred, people donated nearly VND 60 billion in a short time to help overcome the consequences. Although at that time, natural disasters and floods also occurred in the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Thailand, Laos, etc., people not only turned to their homeland but also supported their compatriots in affected areas in their host countries.

Another important aspect is the intellectual contribution of overseas Vietnamese. At major events such as the 4th Overseas Vietnamese Conference and the 2024 Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Forum, overseas Vietnamese have contributed many practical ideas and initiatives, especially in areas such as digital transformation and science and technology. These ideas have been directly listened to and acknowledged by senior leaders of the Party and State, such as the General Secretary, State President and Prime Minister.

Looking back, the overseas Vietnamese community has increasingly affirmed its role of solidarity, creativity and desire to contribute to the homeland. This attachment is not only emotional but also an important resource in building and consolidating Vietnam's position in the international arena.

History has proven that, in any circumstance, overseas Vietnamese are always an inseparable part and a valuable resource of the nation. They have made positive contributions to the cause of building, defending and developing the country.

- In your opinion, how can we further promote the role of overseas Vietnamese in the country's development?

We have seen very positive signals from our people in accepting the major policies of the Party and State, including the aspiration to build an era of sustainable and strong development for the nation. They have clearly shown their support, trust and desire to join hands in building a strong Vietnam with a solid position in the international arena. This is a testament to the desire to contribute of the overseas Vietnamese community, and at the same time an important driving force for the country to rise up in the new era.
