On the morning of January 29, the health workers carried out quick Covid-19 testing for hundreds of journalists and staff at the 13th National Party Congress which has taken place from January 25 to February 2 at the National Convention Center. The testing came after Vietnam reported new 93 Covid-19 community transmissions in Northern provinces and cities, Zing News reported.

There are nearly 500 reporters and technicians from 191 domestic press agencies and more than 60 reporters from 26 foreign news agencies and newspapers at the Congress.

Le Manh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education and Director of the 13th National Party Congress’ Press Centre, said Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong ordered “health safety” during the time the congress is taking place.
All areas of the National Convention Centre are disinfected every day, so are vehicles entering and leaving the center, Hung said.
Prior to the opening of the Congress, everyone involved in the Congress from the delegates, medical and security personnel, to reporters and hotel staff were tested twice for Covid-19. All 10,000 samples taken from them showed negative, according to the Health Ministry.
The 13th National Party Congress, the country’s most important political event, will select Communist Party General Secretary, Prime Minister, President, and the National Assembly Chairperson for the new five-year term.
The Ministry of Health on January 30 morning confirmed additional 34 new Covid-19 patients in the provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh, according to VNExpress. Two of the patients are in Quang Ninh. One of them is linked to the clusters in Hai Duong's Chi Linh Town and the other is related to infections at Quang Ninh's Van Don Airport. All 32 remaining patients are in Hai Duong and related to the Chi Linh hotspot. Two outbreaks in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh Provinces were discovered on January 28 morning, with two patients 1552 and 1553. "Patient 1552", female, 34 years old, lives in Hung Dao Commune in Hai Duong’s Chi Linh Town and works at Poyun Co., Ltd. She had come into close contact with a colleague who tested positive for the virus upon arriving in Japan last week. The colleague was then confirmed to be infected by a coronavirus strain originating in the U.K., which is believed to be up to 70 percent more contagious than ordinary ones. "Patient 1553", male, 31 years old, lives in Hong Ha ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, and works at the Van Don International Airport. Since the resurgence of community transmissions, Hai Duong has reported 157 cases and Quang Ninh 20 cases, making them the biggest Covid-19 hotspots in the country. Infections have then spread to Hai Phong City, Bac Ninh Province, and Hanoi with 180 cases in total. |
