The program established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the HCM Communist Youth Union Central Committee in the period of 2022-2026 was held on December 29, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Overview of the working session

The cooperation program aims to create a closer and synchronous coordination mechanism between the two agencies in the process of implementing foreign activities, and developing Vietnamese youth and students. Such activities include uniting, gathering, consolidating and promoting their role, attracting resources of Vietnamese youth and students abroad; strengthen the leadership of the Party committees at all levels abroad for the work of the Youth Union; raising awareness and knowledge for union members and young people about foreign affairs and international integration.

The two agencies will focus on cooperation in the following areas: Strengthening education for union members and young people abroad; Gathering overseas Vietnamese youth and students; Orientation and organization of activities; Supporting Vietnamese youth abroad; Improving the effectiveness of foreign political activities and friendly exchanges; Improving international integration capacity for young people; Mobilizing international resources.

Speaking at the session, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized the role and great achievements of the young generation in the cause of national construction, protection and development. He expressed his pleasure at the fact that the two agencies have agreed on the content and held the signing ceremony of the cooperation program for the period 2022-2026. He said that the program will make a positive contribution to promoting youth development both at home and abroad. In addition, it also attracts resources of Vietnamese youth and students abroad to contribute to the development of the country, strengthen the great solidarity in the overseas Vietnamese community, and contribute to the implement the Party and State's foreign policy and guidelines.

Minister Bui Thanh Son asked relevant units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to closely coordinate with functional units of the Central Committee of the Youth Union to promote exchange and agree on specific implementation plans for activities in 2022.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, congratulated the achievements in foreign affairs that Minister Bui Thanh Son, the leaders, and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have achieved over the years. In the context of the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made great efforts to implement vaccine diplomacy, making an important contribution to the country's pandemic prevention and control.
