Rapid COVID-19 tests conducted to Hanoi wholesale markets

At a Friday meeting of the city’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 control and prevention, Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung called for rapid testing in some of the wholesale markets, including the Nga Tu So Market in Thanh Xuan District, Long Bien Market in Ba Dinh District, Hoang Mai Fruit Market in the namesake district, Ha Vy Poultry Market in Thuong Tin District and several seafood markets.
Testing outcomes show that all of 1,064 shoppers are negative for the virus.
"The test results will compile important data for assessing transmission rate in the area," Chung said.
The markets are Den Lu in Hoang Mai District, Long Bien in Ba Dinh District, Ha Vy in Thuong Tin District, and Yen Son in Hoang Mai District.
Chung also ordered the the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control to continue training for nurses and staff of all 579 communal and district-level medical stations in order to strengthen their testing capacity.

As of Sunday evening, Vietnam has recorded 268 Covid-19 cases, of which 2 have recovered and been discharged. Hanoi has recorded the highest number of infections in the country with 132 cases, but the capital city has not recorded a new infection in the past three days.
