Social network Zalo on August 3 launched tool Zalo Connect which aims to support its users that are facing difficulties amid complicated developments of the pandemic. Accordingly, Zalo users in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An can easily seek emergency support from the community for foods, medicines, and other essential goods, or quickly connect with doctors and medical experts for remote medical advice.
Through the application, individuals and charitable organizations will quickly detect and support those facing difficulties surrounding their residential areas, but still, strictly follow Covid-19 prevention and social distancing regulations. Users should activate the feature to allow strangers to communicate on Zalo to ensure that the relief force can connect with them quickly.
Zalo Connect was completed in five days with the coordination of the national technology center for Covid-19 prevention and control. Users in the four above-mentioned localities can easily access this feature right at the top of Zalo's browser and select "I need help" or "I want to help", depending on their need. Zalo is expected to have more tools that allow donors to update the list of those who have received support, thus properly distributing donations from the community.

Hong Kong eyes travel resumption with Phu Quoc Island
At a meeting with Vietnamese Consul General Pham Binh Dam in Hong Kong on Wednesday, Jason Wong, chairman of the Hong Kong Travel Industry Council, said the resort island of Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang is an ideal place to deploy the travel bubble if the two sides reach an agreement on isolation exemption and specific implementation mechanisms.
With no end in sight to the pandemic, border closures are causing businesses and economies to collapse while failing to keep countries absolutely safe. Dam said the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong would closely coordinate with the council and relevant agencies of both sides to speed up the travel bubble pilot.
Wong said Vietnam is an increasingly attractive destination for people in Hong Kong. The council will work with the Vietnamese side to promote the tourism markets of both sides in the near future.
Phu Quoc, a famous tourist hotspot in Vietnam, is planning to trial a six-month vaccine passport program starting October, welcoming 40,000 foreign tourists to the island.
As of 6 am on August 6 Vietnam has recorded 185,162 new cases following the resurgence of the virus in late April, and 186,732 cases since the start of the first outbreak in the country in January 2020.
