Vietnam-India's 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Celebrated

Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations coordinated with Dong Thap University and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City to hold a seminar to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, on Jan. 13.
The event welcomed Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi, representatives of Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations, leaders, lecturers, and students of Dong Thap University and Tirupati College of Engineering.
The seminar discussed different perspectives on diplomatic relations and achievements between the two countries during the last 50 years.
It is an opportunity for Dong Thap University to propose potential education cooperation with Indian partners, including Tirupati College of Engineering.
Le Xuan Hai, president of Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations, mentioned the outstanding outcomes over 50 years of relations, especially those achieved since the two countries upgraded their partnership to a comprehensive strategic level in 2016.
He reviewed the exchanges and cooperation between Dong Thap and the Indian consulate general and partners in recent years.
Hai introduced activities expected in the future to enhance the people-to-people relations between the two countries, hoping that a Vietnam - India Friendship Association can be established when all requirements are met.

Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, thanked Dong Thap for its cooperation with the consulate general and other Indian partners, especially in people-to-people exchanges, trade and investment.
Madan Mohan Sethi hoped to effectively stimulate activities of mutual interest, especially in people-to-people exchange, education, and training between Dong Thap University and universities in India, thereby contributing to deepening the relations between the two peoples, particularly those in Dong Thap.
Luong Thanh Tan, vice president of Dong Thap University, thanked Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations for connecting the university with partners. He also thanked the consulate general for their cooperation.
Tan said he hoped cooperation programs would become more practical.
An India Corner in Dong Thap University was established on this occasion. The corner looks to enhance cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two peoples, serving the needs of lecturers and students who research about India's history and culture, especially the country's outstanding scientific and technical achievements in recent years.
At the opening ceremony of the corner, the Indian consul general presented equipment and documents for research and teaching of lecturers and students at Dong Thap University.
