The Vietnam - Korea Businessmen and Investment Association (VKBIA) and Vietnam’s northern Yen Bai province on June 14-16 visited and worked in Jeollanam-do province to implement local cooperation between the two countries Vietnam Republic of Korea (RoK).

Within the framework of the trip, the delegation visited and worked in Jindo island district. At the meeting with local leaders, Chairman of Yen Bai People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan quickly informed his host about the potential and strengths of Yen Bai and the situation regarding sending the province's workers to work in the RoK.

The parties signed a cooperation agreement on establishing local-level cooperation.

Jindo Mayor Kim Hee Soo discussed cooperation in bringing workers from Yen Bai province to work on the Korean isle. Accordingly, Jindo is a southern island district, with an area of ​​420.32 km². It has strengths in agriculture, forestry and fishery production. Currently, Vietnamese workers account for 1/4 of the workers working here.

Jindo will coordinate with Yen Bai to find human resources to work in the field of agriculture and fishery, he added.

The delegation came to work in Naju city. With their potential and strengths, its Mayor Yoon Byung-tae, hopes to exchange and cooperate with Yen Bai in the near future in fields such as green and clean energy, emissions reduction, and carbon neutrality, development of high-quality human resources, tourism, and agriculture.

In addition, the debut ceremony of the Vietnam - Jeollanam-do Cooperation Support Center office took place at Dongshin University. The center came into operation to support increased cooperation and exchange between Jeollanam-do and Vietnamese localities in general and Yen Bai in particular.

At the opening ceremony, VKBIA head Tran Hai Linh emphasized that Naju in particular localities in Jeollanam-do in general, and Yen Bai province have many things in common. Therefore, promoting local cooperation to contribute to the common development in the coming time for the two countries is extremely necessary.

VKBIA and Dongshin University are ready to be a bridge for effective cooperation, Linh added.

Dongsin University and the VKBIA signed the agreement and will be the focal points directly supporting cooperative activities between the two localities.

The delegation then visited Mokpo city. The Chairman of Yen Bai People's Committee hopes that through this working session, Yen Bai and Mokpo will develop cooperative relations in many areas, especially the fields of industry, culture, tourism, and sustainable development and environmental protection, along with employment.

In response, National Assembly Member Kim Won-i hopes that shortly, Yen Bai and Mokpo will promote cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, and labor.

In addition, the delegation visited and worked at Daebul Industrial Complex which currently has about 10,000 foreign workers, of which the largest number are Vietnamese workers working in the shipbuilding industry.

According to the General Director of the complex, businesses here are currently in great need of attracting and recruiting workers, especially in the field of shipbuilding to meet its development needs in the coming time.
