NA Standing Committee holds meeting with full-time NA deputies
A meeting between the National Assembly (ND) Standing Committee and full-time NA deputies was held at the NA Building on April 15 under the chairmanship of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
The meeting also saw the participation of Politburo member and permanent NA Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man and three NA Vice Chairmen Do Ba Ty, Nguyen Duc Hai and Nguyen Khac Dinh.
Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasised that this is the first meeting of the NA Standing Committee with full-time NA deputies since the completion of its personnel.
The top NA leader noted that the NA should continue to improve its quality and performance while promoting democracy, creativeness, and transparence to ensure the role as the supreme representative agency of the people and the supreme power agency of the State.
It should also promptly institutionalise the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and quickly amend, supplement and promulgate new laws to implement the 2013 Constitution.
The NA needs to promote supervision activities and improve the quality of decision-making on important national issues and forecasting capacity with long-term and macro-vision in addition to renewing and consolidating foreign affairs, according to NDO.
More congratulations come in from abroad
The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has sent a congratulatory message Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his election as the State President of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received a message of congratulations from his Mongolian counterpart Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received congratulations from Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Radek Vondrácek, NDO reported.

Hanoi strengthens cooperation with Capitals of North European countries
Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh hosted a reception on April 16 for the Chairman of Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (NordCham Vietnam) Quist Thomasen.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on business cooperation between Nordic enterprises operating in Hanoi and the possibility of establishing relations between Hanoi and the capitals of Nordic countries.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh affirmed that Hanoi always welcomes Nordic businesses to explore its investment environment and expand upon business opportunities in the city.

As a national political-administrative hub, a major centre of culture, science, education, economics and international transactions, Hanoi is aiming to become a “green-smart-modern” city by 2030, has said, adding that the city is also promoting technology, science and innovation; as well as addressing traffic, urban andmedical issues.
According to the Vice President of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Quist Thomasen, Nordic companies are developing their strengths in areas such as Smart and Green cities, renewable energy and sustainable development.
For his part, NordCham Vietnam Chairman Quist Thomasen said he hoped to understand the needs and vision of Hanoi city, while at the same time introducing experiences of Nordic countries to contribute to the overall development of Hanoi, as reported by NDO.
MoH to Withdraw Unused COVID-19 Vaccine Doses after May 5
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has asked localities to accomplish the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign before May 5 otherwise unused vaccine doses will be withdrawn.
The announcement was released at a virtual meeting on COVID-19 prevention and vaccine inoculation on April 15.
Previously, the ministry passed a plan to allocate 811,200 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, delivered through COVAX Facility, to all 63 provinces and cities in the country and the military and police forces.

The above vaccine doses will expire on May 31, thus the ministry urged localities to doubt effort in inoculating priority groups.
So far, 49 provinces and cities have received the vaccine doses and the rest will be delivered to other 14 provinces and cities in coming time.
Earlier, newly-elected Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh tasked localities and the MoH to save every dose of vaccine and avoid vaccine waste before expiry date.
The MoH said the inoculation program, which was kicked off on March 8, has been on schedule and more than 73,000 people have received their first jabs, VGP reported.
Phu Tho Province to let off fireworks at Hung Kings Festival
The Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee will organize high-altitude fireworks for 15 minutes on April 20 in Viet Tri city on the occasion of the Hung Kings Festival, following an approval of the central Government. The high-altitude fireworks will take place after an art performance program theme “Sacred roots – Hung Kings Land” (from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm) on April 20, at Van Lang Park, Viet Tri City.
Hung King Temple festival can be considered one of the most important and meaningful one that connect Vietnamese people from all over the country together. It enhances the national unity and reminds Vietnamese people of their origin and history.
Legend has it that the eldest son of Lac Long Quan (son of Kinh Duong Vuong) and Au Co (the fairy daughter of De Lai) was made king. He named the country Van Lang and set up the capital in Phong Chau (modern-day Viet Tri city), beginning 18 dynasties of the Hung Kings.

The kings chose Nghia Linh Mountain, the highest in the region, to perform rituals devoted to the rice and sun deities to pray for healthy crops.
To honor their substantial contributions, a complex of temples dedicated to the kings was built on Nghia Linh Mountain, and the tenth day of the third lunar month serves as the national commemorative anniversary for the kings, as reported by VGP.
