The Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia and the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco recently held ceremonies to receive in cash and kind donations from the overseas Vietnamese communities to assist the Covid fight in Vietnam.
In Mongolia, the Embassy of Vietnam received US$ 7,000 from the Vietnamese community to support the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund. The acceptance ceremony was attended by staff of the Embassy of Vietnam, representatives of the Vietnamese Association in Mongolia and Mongolian friends.
At the ceremony, Ambassador of Vietnam in Mongolia Doan Khanh Tam reported on the Covid occurrences in Vietnam, the government’s policies and the public’s determination to battle against Covid. Ambassador Tam affirmed that the Party and government considered public health and lives a top priority.

The ambassador highlighted Vietnam’s tradition of supporting each other. Especially in challenging times, the overseas Vietnamese community should showcase the spirit of solidarity and carry out activities to assist the homeland.
It is estimated that 200 Vietnamese are living, working and studying in Mongolia. Ambassador Tam appreciated and praised the response and spirit of responsibility of the Embassy and the Vietnamese Association in Mongolia.
The ambassador hoped that the Vietnamese community in Mongolia would continue to assist the Vietnamese government and contribute practically to the call for Covid fight support so that Vietnam could soon control the pandemic and return to normal life.

The ambassador also requested that the Vietnamese community in the country continue to comply with Covid prevention measures of Mongolia, particularly as Covid continued to have complicated and unpredictable occurrences. Recently, Mongolia has been recording 1,500 new cases/day on average, including cases caused by the new variants.
Previously, due to continuous social distancing and lockdown in Mongolia, the Embassy of Vietnam had reached out in different ways to individuals and businesses who were members of the Vietnamese Association in Mongolia to support Vietnam’s Covid-19 Vaccine Fund actively and help Vietnam to soon win against Covid.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco (the U.S.), the Consulate General of Vietnam accepted and completed necessary procedures to transport 255 breathing devices, 9,000 rapid Covid-19 tests, 60,000 facemasks and other medical devices donated by the Vietnamese community.

As the focal point for receiving donations, the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco has mobilized all staff to work closely with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Vietnam Airline office in the U.S. to complete the procedures to transfer medical equipment to Vietnam in support of the Covid prevention in the country.
On August 23, 2021, with approval from Vietnam authorities, the flight code VN9 of Vietnam Airlines arrived in San Francisco to bring home over 280 Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged backgrounds and medical equipment donated by the Vietnamese community in the U.S.

Previously, the Embassy of Vietnam in the U.S. received a donation of roughly US$ 55,000 from the Vietnamese community in the U.S. and staff of the embassy and other Vietnamese agencies to support the Covid fight in Vietnam.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, Texas also called for support for Vietnam’s Covid-19 Vaccine Fund and received a total of US$ 25, 560.
The devotion of the Vietnamese community in the U.S. toward the homeland is a source of motivation and integral resource to help Vietnam soon overcome the pandemic and boost recovery and development.
