On July 9, also known as "Communist Saturday," the members of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia together and their families were invited by the Communist Party in Russia (KPRF) to participate in a strawberry picking event. Joining them at a farm named after Lenin (Moscow) were party members and supporters of the KPRF, as well as staff from embassies and students from 12 countries.

From early in the morning, the teams gathered in the strawberry field of the Lenin Farm located at the end of Kasir Boulevard. They all worked hard to harvest a large amount of ripe strawberries in the field.

The delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia has nearly 40 people. The Lao Embassy delegation was led by Ambassador Vilavanh Yirpoher, staff members, students in Moscow.

Lyudmila Voznesenskaya, Head of the Press Department of the Moscow City Komsommol Committee, a member of the Women's Movement "Russian Hope" said, "Communist Saturday is an initiative that dates back to the days of the Soviet Republic. So far we have celebrated 100 days of this initiative. Our communist members also had a project to celebrate the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The project's goal is plant as many trees as possible in honor of those who gave their lives for this victory.”

Hoang Van Linh, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia is grateful to received the invitation from the KPRF. He believed it showed the friendly feelings that the KPRF had towards the Vietnamese diplomatic mission. He hoped this activities will help trade union members and children of families learn more about the friendship between Vietnam and international friends as well as the love for nature.

“This is the first time I have experienced the strawberry picking program. Thanks to the program, I can enjoy the harvest, eat fruit from the garden, the berries are very ripe and delicious," said Linh.

Communist Saturday, which was formed in 1919, is to promote spirit of public labor, contributing their efforts to the community and the party. Due to the large output, every year, the Lenin farm always needs more labor. The farm pays labor 10% of the harvested output, pickers also can eat strawberries freely in the field. On average, every day there are about 800 people, on holidays, maybe more than 1,000 people come to harvest strawberries.

This year, the strawberry harvest at the Lenin Farm has started from June 28 until the fruit runs out. The harvest program usually lasts for several weeks.

Strawberries in the Lenin farm are grown naturally without fertilizers. Fresh strawberries are sold in retail stores in Moscow and on the outskirts of Moscow within hours of being harvested.

Farm was established in 1918, specializing in growing vegetables and fruits, berries. This is also the largest strawberry growing enterprise in Russia, owning a cultivation area of ​​about 110 hectares. By the harvest season, strawberry production is up to 60 tons per day. Lenin Farm is also in the list of 300 best farms of the Russian Federation.
