Vietnamese Folk Instrument Exhibition Opens to French Public
Over Lunar New Year, the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France cooperated with the Aurore - Light Association and the city of Arcueil to organize an exhibition on Vietnam's cultural heritage and traditional musical instruments.

The city hall of Arcueil, Val-de-Marne province, shows photos introducing the tangible and intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam as published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The photos included images of Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha Ke Bang, Kon Ha Nung biosphere reserve, Hue royal court music, and Bài Chòi performances.
In addition, colorful traditional clothing such as áo dài, áo tứ thân, and some unique ethnic musical instruments of Vietnam such as đàn bầu, the T'rung (bamboo xylophone), đàn đáy are also being displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition invites visitors to take a visual tour through the heritage regions, and lets them admire the traditional costumes and get acquainted with the national musical instruments, helping visitors learn a little bit more about the rich cultural legacy of Vietnam's ethnic communities.
Visitors can enjoy one-of-a-kind performances by Vietnamese and French performers using ethnic musical instruments.
According to the Chairman of the Aurore - Light Association Tran Thu Dung, the exhibition aims to introduce the nation's unique cultural heritages to French friends and the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in France.
The event attracted much attention from locals, giving them a better understanding of Vietnamese culture.
Gerard Moiser, General Secretary of the Auro - Light Association, said the exhibition serves to strengthen cultural interaction between Vietnam and France by displaying its individuality and impression through images, objects, and folk music.
Nghiem Xuan Dong, director of the Vietnam Cultural Center in France, said that 2023 would be the year Vietnam and France celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership year.
The organization intends to work with French municipal governments to develop more diverse large-scale activities to commemorate these events, as well as to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism in France.
