The historic flood caused a lot of damage to people in Germany

On July 18, 2021, the President of the Golden Lotus charity group in Berlin Duong Thi Bich Ngoc sent a call to the Vietnamese community in Germany to support Germany after the flood. In just 5 days of calling, members of the Golden Lotus charity group along with benefactors, overseas Vietnamese businessmen in Germany raised an amount of 2000 euros (US$2364).

In the call for donations, President Duong Thi Bich Ngoc said: "Germany - the second homeland of Vietnamese expatriates is suffering from unprecedented floods in history. Up to now, the death toll has reached 143 people (including 4 rescuers), more than 600 people are injured and more than 1300 people are missing. Many houses and roads are damaged. Natural disasters and pandemic make many families miserable."

"Vietnamese people in Germany are living under the auspices of Germany, with calls for donations from local charities with the motto "helping people in need." This help is also a thank you to Germany for giving us a good life," Ngoc said.

Due to the pandemic situation, it was not possible to donate directly, on the morning of July 23, 2021, the Association transferred the amount of 2000 euros (US$2364) to support the flood in Germany to the Katastrophenhilfe organization.

The Katastrophenhilfe organization has links with other organizations such as Caritas (German Red Cross), Diakonie Katosystemhenhilfe and UNICEF Germany to deal with the consequences of natural disasters. In the letter of thanks, the representative of the Disaster Relief Alliance said that the money raised by the Association will be distributed by Caritas.

The Vietnamese community in Germany and the Golden Lotus charity group hope that the German people will overcome difficulties caused by floods, pandemic and soon stabilize their lives.
