An art exchange program has been held in Moscow to mark National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, with the participation of representatives from the Vietnamese community in Russia. Poems and songs performed at the program praised the land and people of Vietnam and late President Ho Chi Minh.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said over the past two years, Vietnamese people in Moscow and other southern cities like Voronez, Rostov and Krasnodar have actively coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese Association to support those fleeing from Ukraine. The program is expected to give more strength to the Vietnamese community to overcome all challenges and difficulties.
Meanwhile, activities within the Vietnamese Day program took place at the St. Petersburg State University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations from April 25-29 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
The activities included seminars on Vietnam and bilateral relations, with the participation of many Russian experts, scholars and students, and representatives from the Russian Embassy in the Southeast Asian nation. Ekaterina Koldunova from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations said the increasing number of participants demonstrates Vietnam’s special position among priorities in Russia’s foreign policy.

The Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFS) held a virtual workshop to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30), gathering the participation of many Canadians and Vietnamese expatriates.
The keynote speaker, Nguyen Thi Hoi, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada and Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association, highlighted important progress in the nations’ comprehensive partnership over the past five years, particularly in defense, trade, and education. According to her, Canada opened its Defense Attaché Office in Hanoi, while the Vietnam-Canada trade exceeded 6 billion USD in 2021.
Vietnam currently ranks first in Southeast Asia and fifth globally in terms of the number of international students in Canada. Canada also identifies Vietnam as a priority market for educational cooperation.
Participants discussed solutions to promote the bilateral relationship and related priorities that need further attention from the sides.
Luis Silva, an expert on government relations, emphasized that over the past half-century, Vietnam has grown strongly. When Vietnam and Canada established diplomatic relations in 1973, the nation was still in wartime. Now it has entered a period of peace and prosperity. He said it is absolutely possible to expect that by 2045, Vietnam will be a high-income country. He also expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Canada ties will constantly grow in the coming time, according to VNA.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Venezuela on April 26 paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his bust in Caracas capital city, on the occasion of the 47 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30) and towards the 132nd birth anniversary of the late President. It was also to mark 35 years since UNESCO honored President Ho Chi Minh as a national hero and a great man of the culture of Vietnam’.
Visiting President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Ha Thi Nga expressed her delight at the flourishing Vietnam-Venezuela comprehensive partnership. She underlined that the Vietnamese people always treasure friendship with Venezuela and support the country’s struggle for national independence, sovereignty protection, and national development, expressing her hope that bilateral relations will continue thriving in the coming time.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Le Viet Duyen underlined President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions to Vietnam’s national liberation and voiced his belief that the Vietnam-Venezuela friendship and comprehensive cooperation will be strengthened, contributing to the countries’ development as well as peace and stability in the regions and the world.
For her part, Vice Minister of Foreign Relations of Venezuela Capaya Rodríguez said the Government and people of the country highly value the countries’ comprehensive partnership, wishing to bring the bilateral relations to a new height and thoroughly prepare for a meeting of the inter-governmental committee in the future.
