Vietnamese Students Gathered at a Book Reading Festival in Russia

On April 24, Vietnamese students, members of the Vietnam-Russia Arms group successfully organized a reading festival in Moscow.

This meaningful event aimed at spreading the value of reading, creating a cultural channel, exchanging books and knowledge, and further promoting solidarity among Vietnamese students who are studying and doing research in Moscow.

The Reading Festival is a part of the 2022 series of events that this group plans to conduct to raise money for the “Raising Children” project. It is known that the project will sponsor for students in highland and mountainous area to have full meals in the school year 2022-2023, with the goal of motivating children to excel in their studies, and at the same time multiplying projects related to children.

According to the World and Vietnam Report, Head of the Organizing Committee Tran Thi Van Anh, a 2nd year student at Russian University of Economics Plekhanov, shared that the series of events have been planned for a long time, in the spirit of sharing with underprivileged students so that they have the favorable conditions to study, as well as bring the light of knowledge back to their hometown when they grow up.

Van Anh shared that the group observed that Vietnamese students in Russia have a need for books, but they face difficulties bringing books from Vietnam. Therefore, the group decided to organize this book festival to create an environment for cultural exchange among Russian, Vietnamese with foreign friends.

According to the Vietnam News Agency reporter in Russia, a large number of Vietnamese international students who are studying and doing research at universities in Moscow participated in this event.

Vu Ngoc Anh, a member of the Organizing Committee and also a 2nd year student of Russian Economic University Plekhanov, added that in Moscow there has not been any book festival officially organized by Vietnamese students. At the same time, April 21 is also Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, so the Vietnam-Russia Arms group took this opportunity to build an activity to spread reading to students.

VOV World reported that the event not only displayed and sold books, helped students to exchange books, but also included team games as well as many attractive musical performances staged by Vietnamese students in Moscow./.
