It is known that the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City has confirmed for the receipt of a lawsuit of Vie Channel, the producer of “Rap Viet” and “Who is Single Vietnam?”, against Spotify AB Company for Copyright infringement.
“Rap Viet” and “Who is Single Vietnam?”, have been two Game Shows attracting a lot of Vietnamese viewers recently, in which “Rap Viet' is a game show that continuously sets records for the number of concurrent viewers.

According the legal document, Vie Channel has sued Spotify AB for publishing records of these two Game Shows on Spotify application in Vietnam without any consents.
Spotify AB has used techniques to convert video records into separated audio files and publishing them on Spotify. It is found that 19 songs in “Rap Viet” has been published on the Spotify. The same thing also happened with “Who is single Vietnam?”.
It is estimated that this infringement caused a damage of nearly US$ 410,000 for Vie Channel, in which about US$ 100,000 is for “Rap Viet” and the rest is for “Who is Single Vietnam”. Those are cost for producing these two Game Shows, detecting for copyright infringement and other direct revenues
After detecting the copyright violation of Spotify, Vie Channel has taken steps to appeal to Spotify AB as instructions on the Spotify AB website and sending an official notice about copyright infringement to Spotify AB head quarter in Sweden via email and by post.
Spotify AB has responded to Vie channel’s notice in 10 Sep 2020 but records of these two Game Shows still has been published on the Spotify.
Therefore, Vie Channel asks Spotify AB for an indemnification for damages, removing audio tracks of “Rap Viet” and “Who is Single Vietnam?” from Spotify applicaton and having an official apology to Vie Channelfor Copyright infringement.
In the end of August 2020, Vietnamese technology company VNG also sued Tiktok for alleging copyright infringement.
