The frost usually appears on Fansipan Mount from November to February. This is the fourth time in 2020 that frost has appeared on the roof of Indochina.

On the morning of December 21, the temperature in many northern mountainous areas was also low. The temperature on Mau Son Mount (Lang Son) was 2.5 degrees; Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) was 7 degrees, etc.
According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting, the influence of the cold weather has led to the temperatures to plummet as rain hits northern and north-central regions, VOV reported. This marks the first period of extreme cold to hit the north since the beginning of the winter, with the lowest temperatures being recorded at around 11 degrees Celsius, with frost in some mountainous areas causing temperatures to fall to below five degrees Celsius. In Hanoi, temperatures are ranging from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. Due to the sharp decrease in temperature, northern localities have been urged to take proactive measures in response to the chilly weather, thereby ensuring the safety of elderly people and children while also reducing the damage done to agricultural production in mountainous areas. |
