“The association is established in order to create opportunities to meet, share experiences for Hai Phong fellow-countrymen in Austria and Europe; connect Hai Phong fellow-countrymen with the Vietnamese community in Austria and Europe; coordinate and organize events for Hai Phong fellow-countrymen in Austria and Europe; and response to movements and activities of overseas Vietnamese people towards the homeland," said Mr. Trung.

“I hope this is the first step to establish other fellow-countrymen associations, and fellow-countrymen will link with each other to found the overseas Vietnamese Association in Austria. I appreciate the initial success of the Hai Phong fellow-countrymen association in Austria. The number of people from Hai Phong city in Austria and some Eastern European countries is the largest. They still look toward the homeland. That is very respectable," Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Viet Anh spoke at the event.

During the congress, art items prepared and performed by the second generation of Vietnamese people in Austria show the spirit of preserving and promoting the Vietnamese cultural identity in Europe.
